2 PM and I am sunbathing on my balcony. Summer is coming -at least in Sardinia- and, well, I would like to dedicate this post to amazing Italian places to visit during summer time.
As I am from Sardinia, I would like to recommend to spend all your time here… but there are lots of places around Italy that deserve to be seen.
Today, with the help of Tripadvisor, we gonna see the best beaches you should visit.
- La Spiaggia dei Conigli
You can find this paradise in the south-west of Lampedusa island, situated between Sicily and Tunisia. The beach is about 4,4 square metres. Its name is probably the result of a misunderstanding. The admiral Smith in 1824 named it “Rabit Island” which stands for “isthmus” and not for “rabbit”.
To reach it there is a 20-minute-walk-path but, when you arrive there, it is a priceless view! The sand is really thin and white like talc. In some parts of the beach is forbidden to put umbrellas as this is the site of laying eggs by the Caretta turtles.
- Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzé

Cala Mariolu

Cala Goloritzé
These beaches are situated in the Sardinia east cost. They are just two of the many bays situated in this segment of coast of Baunei. The name of the first one derived from “mariolu”, the name fishermen gave to the monk seals which used to steal their fishes and live here. Both beaches are enclosed by cliffs overlooking the sea. While Cala Marioulu is unlikely reachable by land, Cala Goloritzé is achievable just by land because it is a Natural Monument since 1993, protected by pollution and navigation is prohibited in the stretch of water. Both beaches will strike you for water colors -blue, light blue and emerald-, clearness and for the countless white pebbles. If you decide to go to Cala Goloritzé, you need to wear trekking shoes, dress in layers, bring with you a reserve of water. The back uphill will be very tiring.
- Cala Rossa
Cala Rossa is another Sicilian beach. Situated in the Isola di Favignana, Egadi Islands, to reach it you have to walk a little but, when you arrive there you have the opportunity to buy something to drink and eat at the “quiosco”. The water is really clear, the sea bottom white and it is full of fishes. It is surrounded by a crown of tuff rocks.
- Spiaggia la Pelosa
Situated in the Asinara Gulf, at the far end of Capo Falcone, naturally protected by its sea stacks, it is one of the most beautiful Sardinian beaches. For this reason its stretch of water is always calm even when the Mistral wind – a very strong wind from west- blows. Main characteristics of this beach are the mediterranean flora that surround all the coast, the white and very thin sand, the crystal clear water and the Aragonese tower in front of it. Very crowded during summer, it is better to visit it in May and October.
- Porto Giunco
Situated in Villasimius, in the south-east of the island, it is one of the most long beaches of Sardinia. Its water is really clear and the sand is white and thin. Characterized by the big pond of Notteri behind it, famous for being habitat of pink flamingos, people with disabilities can access to the beach. There is an ample parking, rental equipment, an hotel, bars and a refreshment point. It is also ideal for surfers and for lovers of diving and snorkeling.
- Baia del Silenzio
This the beach of Sestri Levante, in Liguria. The beach is an enchanting and peaceful bay surrounded by typical and colored houses. During summer, due to the small dimension, is really crowded and it is necessary to wake up early to take a place. Amazing during the sunset and at night.
- Spiaggia Cala Bianca
This is a little bay which own its name to its white pebbles. Situated in the Camerota coast, inside the National Parc of Cilento, in the province of Salerno, it is reachable by feet, following the 1-hour-path or by boat from the near Camerota harbor. This is an amazing place for its natural beauty: white sea bottom, emerald water, native flora and small caverns in the rock at the sides of the beach.
- Spiagge di Tropea
You can find these unique beaches in Calabria, in the famous town of Tropea. Situated on the top of a majestic rock, to arrive at the beaches you can go downhill by 4 roads. The most enchanting of the 5 beaches is the Spiaggia del Cannone, the smallest one, hidden behind San Leonardo rock and the north dock of the touristic harbor. Very clean water and white sand beaches, it is worth to pass by Tropea and sunbath.
- Is Arutas
Is Arutas is one of the beaches of Peninsula of Sinis. It is property of Cabras town in the west of Sardinia, near Oristano. The water is really clear and takes lots of shades. Its “sand” is very particular because composed by little white grains of quartz. It is ideal for snorkeling and during windy day is one of the best spots for kite and surf.
